Big congratulations to the 10th grade Jensen and 9th grade Johnson teams on their 1st and 3rd place finishes! Both team finished in impressive fashion down in Orlando at the 2011 10th grade AAU Nationals. AIA Jensen finished 6-0, winning the first national title for the All Iowa Attack program. AIA Johnson also played at an extremely high level finishing with a 6-1 record, losing only to 10th grade Jensen. Coach Johnson’s team earned a third place finish despite playing up one age group. The championship was broadcasted on espn3.com and can still be viewed through that website. Both teams competed extremely well and All Iowa Attack was represented at the highest level.

Good luck to all girls finishing up tournaments this summer during the live period! Teams will travel to the Tartan Meltdown in Minneapolis, Battle of the Plains in Kansas City, and Nike Nationals in Augusta.

The AIA high school girls teams competed in the Boo Williams Invitational in April against some of the top teams in the country. The 15U girls played at an extremely high level adding another championship to their already impressive record. They went 6-0 finishing on top. The 14U girls were also highlighted with a final four finish. It was a great start to a very exciting 2011 AAU season! The high school girls will be appearing at some of the top tournaments in the country this summer as they await an invitation to the Peach Jam Tournament in North Augusta, South Carolina.

16U and 17U Boys to play in Peach Jam

May 31st, 2011

Congratulations to the AIA 16U and 17U boys Nike EYBL team for getting invited to the Peach Jam!

The AIA high school boys teams were selected as one of the top 40 teams in the country to compete in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Throughout April and May they travelled from coast to coast playing against the best of the best. After the first three Nike invitational tournaments, the AIA 16U and 17U boys teams both finished within the top 24 to earn an invitation to the EYBL Finals at the Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina from July 12-15, 2011. Finishing in the top 24 teams also secures the high school boys with another Nike contract for next year.

The AIA 17U boys compiled an impressive 10-5 record with a fourth place finish in their respective division. Our high school boys are led by Marcus Paige who has verballed to play at the University of North Carolina next year. Paige is surrounded by a very large cast of nationally ranked college prospects. These highly recruited athletes are in for a fun summer competing against the nations best before finishing their senior years of high school and continuing their basketball careers at universities down the road. For more information about EYBL, rosters, stats, results, schedules, and much more information, check out the EYBL website at http://www.nikeeliteyouthbasketballleague.com/.

A NIKE Grassroots program

November 18th, 2010

All Iowa Attack Basketball is pleased to announce its association with Nike Inc.  The All Iowa Attack boys program has been chosen to be an official Nike Grassroots sponsored program.  According to Jeff Rogers, director of Nike Grassroots, All Iowa Attack will be one of the chosen few programs in the United States to be sponsored by Nike Corporate.  This honor and opportunity is a result of the outstanding players of AIA’s past and the current and future players that AIA will produce.  The sponsorship allows AIA to participate in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League events that are only available to Nike Grassroots programs (less than 40 such programs in the United States).  These events will feature our top high school boys at cities such as Hampton, VA, Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA and Augusta, GA.  Additionally, as a Nike program, our players and coaches will have inside contacts to other opportunities including camps and other special training. Nike has designated the AIA girls program as a NIKE Girls Elite Youth sponsored program.  We share NIKE Elite Youth Basketball’s mission to improve the game of basketball from the ground up as we continue to demonstrate our ability to train and develop young female athletes into great players.  That model is what has occurred at AIA for several years and it is an honor to be recognized as that type of club.  AIA looks forward to a bright future as our players proudly wear the Nike swoosh on their uniforms in 2011 and beyond.

Harrison Barnes to UNC

November 27th, 2009

Harrison Barnes, the nations #1 recruit in the Class of 2009 by multiple rating services, has announced his decision to further his basketball career at the University of North Carolina.  In a press conference at the Ames High Gymnasium, where nearly 2,000 supporters and fans of Harrison were in attendance, Harrison announced his decision to go to North Carolina over Kansas, Oklahoma, UCLA, Iowa State, and Duke.  It was also covered live by ESPNU.  We are proud of Harrison and his accomplishments, and it has been a joy to see him grow as a young man and basketball player since he began with All Iowa Attack in the 5th grade.  Harrison has developed into an outstanding basketball player and even more importantly as an outstanding individual of character, honesty, and hard work.  Harrison will always be important to All Iowa Attack and we wish him and his teammates the best in his upcoming Ames High season and his future at North Carolina.  Congratulations Harrison!!! Go Tar Heels!

Goals and Expectations

August 1st, 2009

The All Iowa Attack Basketball Program is dedicated to serving the youth in Iowa by supporting their academic and athletic goals. The following guide our program:

  1. To use basketball as a platform to teach life lessons and character development such as how to be a leader, handle adversity, and work in a team setting. We believe that these disciplines can be used on and off the court and we take every opportunity to instill them into our athletes.
  2. To develop a basketball program that is accessible to athletes who desire to become excellent. If this desire is present, then we believe that nothing should stand in the way of the player achieving this goal. We aim to break down the barriers created by financial situations, abilities, and demographics in order to give every opportunity of excellence.
  3. To provide opportunities for our athletes to share quality time with family and friends in practice and on road trips. Our desire is to give our athletes and their families something positive and constructive to do with their time.
  4. To improve basketball skills. We want our athletes to be the best basketball players they can be. This requires a lot of practice, training, and working on weaknesses. This is the tough part, it means working hard, and we will push them to work harder than they want to.
  5. To develop quality individuals who value integrity, fairness, responsibility, and maturity. We expect our athletes to approach every game with the mindset of upholding All Iowa Attack as a classy program. This means demonstrating good sportsmanship and proper basketball etiquette by respecting the opposing players, coaches, and officials.
  6. To provide opportunities for the players’ future. Most of these athletes will have very successful basketball experiences. Some may play varsity their freshmen or sophomore year of high school. Many will get the opportunity to play at some level of college basketball, thus many getting their college education paid for. Whatever their length of experience, we want to give them the opportunity to play at the highest level possible, and we believe that means working hard at it right now.

Player and Parent Expectations

We as an organization understand there are other things in life besides basketball. We ask that you make you best effort to keep you commitment to the organization, coach, and most important, you fellow teammates.

We expect each player to:

  1. Come to practice ready to practice, ready to learn something new, or to enhance the skills that they already possess.
  2. Be on time for practice and attend all practice sessions.
  3. Notify the coach in advance if they can’t attend.
  4. Attend all tournaments, display good sportsmanship and team spirit.
  5. Come to every game and expect to come out a winner if you have given your all.
  6. Maintain the highest GPA possible for the given athlete. At all times athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (“C”). All Iowa Attack focuses on being well-rounded people, and we believe academics is a very important for the future success of our athletes.

We expect each parent to

  1. Get their athletes to practice and tournaments on time.
  2. Stay updated on AIA information through emails and the website.
  3. Make all payments on time.
  4. Help with various responsibilities during home tournaments (scorekeeping, concessions, admission..).
  5. Communicate and/or ask questoins with your coaches in a positive manner as needed to feel informed about the program and progress of your athlete.
  6. Have fun and enjoy the experience of watching your son/daughter grow in life!

Overall expectation:

“Let the coaches coach, players play, officials officiate, and parents cheer!”
