Meet Our Boys' Coaches
Dickson Jensen
President
Dickson Jensen, founder of All Iowa Attack Basketball in 2004, has been coaching and running the program for the past six years. Since the first years of the Attack program, Dickson has seen large developments. His passion and dedication to what he does have helped the program grow into one of the nation’s top clubs. It represents the desire to promote youth basketball and to establish an arena to develop leaders among the youth in the state of Iowa. Dickson Jensen is also the founder of the Jensen Group enterprise, which includes Jensen Property Management, Jensen Design Build, Jensen Development Corporation, The Harvester Golf Club, and All Iowa Attack Basketball.
Dickson is an ISU alum with an engineering degree and two masters degrees. He is also an example of what it means to be Dad and a husband of a large family. Dickson has been married to his wife Luann for 24 years and they have five children: Blake (21), Ally (20), Samantha (18), Mason (15), and Kolby (13).
Building a tradition of excellence, Dickson has guided this program in selecting high-level coaches as well as quality character kids that are responsible, respectful, and hard workers on the basketball court as well in life.
Jensen previously stated, “As you can see, to me it is about the kids and their gain for their lives now and in the future. Luann and I love kids and desire to influence them positively in these very influential years in their lives. A good kind of influence, that is honest, giving and yet firm and directive. To do this, the excellent staff of All Iowa Attack has worked very hard and are committed to continue to do this today and in the future.”
Keith “Lefty” Moore
Skill Development Trainer / Coach
Coach Keith Moore’s basketball background includes playing Division 1 college basketball at Iowa State University and where he was an assistant coach for one year. Many Iowans will recall his days as the starting point guard for Iowa State University, where he was an All Big 8 performer his senior year. He also played in the CBA and a lot of years overseas. Coach Moore was an assistant coach with the Iowa Energy of the NBA D League for three seasons. Coach Moore has also coached High School and AAU. He is entering his 5th year with All Iowa Attack. Coach Moore owns a skill development company out of Raleigh, North Carolina called “Elevate Basketball” that works with boys and girls ages 9 through college. Coach Moore has trained over 70 young men and 50 young women playing college or professional basketball. Coach Moore is looking forward to being a part of AIA full time and being part of one of the best AAU programs in the country.
Dedric Willoughby
Skill Development Trainer / Coach
Dedric Willoughby is a familiar name to the Ames area. The Iowa State standout brings a rich basketball background to AIA. He graduated from Archbishop High School in Marrero, Louisiana in 1992. Willoughby started his collegiate career playing at the University of New Orleans from 1992-1994. He then played at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa during the 1994-1995 season. He finished his college experience with a bang at Iowa State from 1995-1997.
Dedric made an immediate impact being selected captain of the team both seasons. He lead Iowa State to a Big Eight Championship in 1996 and a NCAA Sweet 16 finish in 1997. In his 1995-1996 season, he was a Honorable Mention All-American, USBWA All-District V, All Big 8 First Team, Big 8 Newcomer of the Year, Big 8 Tournament MVP, Big 8 Tournament First Team, and twice a Big 8 Player of the Week. In his 1996-1997 Willoughby was an All-American, All Big 12 First Team, Big 12 Tournament First Team, and on the All Century Team. While at Iowa State, Willoughby broke the school record for the most 3 pointers made in a game (9), the most 3 pointers made in a season (98), and the most minutes played in a season.
Willoughby went on to play professional basketball from 1997 to 2000. He started his professional career playing throughout Italy for three years. He then earned a spot for the Chicago Bulls from November 1999 through January 2000. He finished his basketball career playing a few months in Australia.
Before joining the Attack, Dedric has been living with his family and working in Atlanta, Georgia. Dedric brings many attributes to the staff including an exceptional ability to shoot the basketball, leadership, hard work and a passion for the game.
Hank Huddleson
Boys Coach
Coach Huddleson started the Martin Brothers boys program in 1990. In the last 21 years he established and has excelled the Martin Bros. Program on a national level. He has produced well over 150 scholarship level players, which includes 10 of the last 15 Mr. Basketball award winner’s in the state of Iowa. He has coached a handful of players that have played in the NBA including 2 Lottery Draft picks and even more that are playing professionally. During the High School season he coaches at Waterloo West HS as a varsity asst. He earned a BS in Human Services from Upper Iowa University. He also holds a coaching authorization. He has a wealth of experience in basketball. He has run showcase evaluation events, camps and tournaments. He does individual training and has a great reputation with college coaches on helping place his student athletes. He currently resides in Parkersburg with his wife Erin. We are very happy to add Hank and his wife to the Attack family.
Mike Shane
Boys Coach
Mike is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in PE and has his coaching certification. Coach Shane has 20 years coaching experience at various levels and sports. During his football career at Iowa State, he was a 4-year letter winner, Co-Captain, 1st Team All Big 8 and Honorable Mention All-American Linebacker. After completing his football career, Mike was a Graduate Assistant football coach at ISU for 3 years. He then went on to coach 2 years at Westmar University and 5 years at Morningside College. In 2000, he started his own insurance business in Ames and has been coaching with Ames High varsity football for the past 10 years. Mike and his wife Melanie have 2 boys, Spencer (15) and Colby (14), in the program.
Clay Netusil
Boys Coach
Coach Netusil has been coaching youth athletics for seven years and has been with the Attack program for five years. Clay has led his teams to seven Iowa AAU State Championshipsand USSSA State Championships and one USSSA National Title with Attack.
Clay was a football standout at the University of Northern Iowa, where he was a three time All-Conference performer as a punter and earned AP All-America honors as a senior. Following his graduation from UNI in the fall of 1986 he earned professional football try-outs in the NFL during the 1987 season with the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins.
Clay earned his master’s degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University, Miami, FL in 1988. He was a graduate assistant men’s basketball coach at St. Thomas during the 1987-88 season and as an assistant men’s basketball coach at St. Thomas during the 1989-90 season. In addition, has coached football at the collegiate level with the Miami Hurricanes, Drake and Buena Vista, as well as at the high school level.
Clay and his wife Tina have lived in Carroll, IA since 1993 and have two boys who both participate in the Attack program, Cody (10th grade) and Chase (7th grade). Clay is a Branch Manager/Financial Advisor with Raymond James Financial Services and Tina teaches kindergarten.
Pete Eastman
Boys Coach
Pete is the youngest of ten children, born into a basketball family in Haddonfield, New Jersey. He played at Haddonfield Memorial High School, earning many honors including second team all South Jersey, first team all Colonial Conference, and first team Philly Suburban All Stars. He graduated in 1983, going on to play two seasons for Randolph Macon College in Richmond, Virginia. His team was ranked as high as #4 in the nation before graduating from R-M-C in 1987 with a B.A. in history. Coach Eastman currently resides in West Des Moines with his wife, Jennifer, and four sons, two of which currently enjoy playing in the AIA program.
Pete credits much of his basketball knowledge and passion to his brother, Kevin. Kevin is currently an assistant coach for the 2008 NBA champions, Boston Celtics. He is also the Director for Nike Elite Basketball Camps, working with the top talent in the world.
Coach Eastman believes, “All sport should be seen and used as a vehicle in life, especially youth sports. Enjoy the ride parents!!!”
Ed Steyer
Boys Coach
Ed has nearly 20 years of experience coaching youth sports, ranging from ages 8 through high school varsity teams. He spent 13 years as a paid coach in the Springfield School District in Holland, OH. During this time he coached teams on all levels from the seventh grade through the varsity team with the last five years as the varsity assistant. His teams have been very competitive and won league championships at all levels, including the only two league championships in school history as the varsity assistant. He has also coached 3rd – 6th grade youth baseball and basketball teams in the Ames community. As a prep Ed was an All-Conference, All-District and honorable mention All-State performer at Springfield High Scholl in Holland, OH.
Ed is a graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.
Nathan Hill
Boys Coach
Coach Hill, a Wartburg College graduate, is new to the Attack staff and brings 5 years of coaching experience with two years at the AAU level.
Nathan played football all four years in college, and was a three-year starter and All-Conference basketball player at South Hamilton High School.
Jonathan Harshman
Boys Coach
Jonathan Harshman is a former player of Hank Huddelson’s and the Martin Brothers program. He was a member of the 2004 Martin Brothers 19U National Championship team. A 2004 graduate from Centerville High School, Jonathan attended Kirkwood Community College and played basketball for one season. After attending Kirkwood Community College, Harshman attended the University of Iowa where he earned a BA in History as well as his teaching certification. After graduating from the University, he was askeed to rejoin the Martin Brothers program and has coached on the staff for the past three years. Harshman is a high school social studies teacher at Lone Tree High School where he is a varsity assistant and head JV basketball coach for the boys program.
JJ Pick
Boys Coach
JJ Pick grew up in Le Mars, Iowa. He played 3 years of varsity basketball for Gehlen Catholic High School. After high school JJ went to the University of Northern Iowa where he was a manager for the UNI Men’s basketball team. His duties as manager included practice preparation, film exchange, scouting, and doing whatever else was necessary to make operations go smoothly. After three years of being a manager (head manager the final two years) JJ took his basketball knowledge to Waterloo West High School as an assistant coach. In two seasons at Waterloo West Coach Pick has coached three Division 1 basketball players (John Puk-U of Albany, TrayVonn Wright-North Dakota State Bison, and Cody Cox-University of Iowa.) Coach Pick has also worked camps at: The University of Northern Iowa, The University of Minnesota, The University of Wisconsin, Marquette University, The University of Arizona and the Nike Training Camp in Guangzhou, China.
Coach Pick was also the creator/camp director of a boy’s basketball camp at his alma mater Gehlen Catholic High School. He will begin his second year with the Martin Bros-Attack program.
Josh Deweerd
Boys Coach
Coach DeWeerd has coached various levels including head and assistant positions for 9 years. In Nebraska he has brought a girls varsity level team to state in his 2nd year there, turned winless programs into having winning records. In Iowa he was co head varsity boys coach, which turned a 3 win team over 3 years to winning 9 games in his first season with the program, then every year after promoting better records while leading his teams with a high level of character leadership qualities. He has coached AAU groups for 6 years, with 2 years running his own program before joining the Martin Brothers Program for 4 years, which is touted as a national power year in and year out. Josh has his BS in Secondary Education Social Sciences. Field Endorsement w/ Coaching. He is currently working on thesis for his masters in administration.
Nathan Jensen
Boys Coach
Nathan played four sports at Roland-Story High School, earning many honors including All-Conference and Academic All-State in basketball. He went on to play basketball all four years at Simpson College, where he graduated with a BS in Mathematics, earned Academic All Conference recognition and was a Co-Captain his senior year. Throughout high school and college he helped run multiple basketball camps for kids, including several camps for children with disabilities. For the last 5 years, Nathan has helped coach his sons (Brock & Rex) in four different sports in Ankeny, where he has lived with his wife Emily since 2004. Nathan began coaching with the Attack in 2010 and is excited about the discipline, focus on the fundamentals and dedication AIA provides for youth basketball in central Iowa.
